An online interview show called "Barfly" interviewed ex-Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb, and he says he "would vote for myself for the Hall of Fame." He says not having a Super Bowl ring shouldn't count against him because his statistics are "better than a lot of guys in the Hall of Fame."
Vikings release QB Donovan McNabb
The Donovan McNabb era is officially over in Minnesota. Coach Leslie Frazier says the Vikings put McNabb on waivers today, calling it "best for both parties." The move allows the veteran to sign with another team if they're willing to pick up the remaining portion of his $5 million salary. Frazier called McNabb "a class guy" and said he wouldn't have done anything differently in bringing McNabb in this year.
McNabb takes verbal jab at Shanahan
Ex-Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb appeared on ESPN2's "First Take" Thursday and was asked if he thought Robert Griffin III would do well if the Redskins draft him. McNabb said "no" because "a lot of times ego gets too involved when it comes to being in Washington." McNabb was referring to head coach Mike Shanahan.
Donovan McNabb surprised Bears never called
There was speculation that the 35-year-old would play in Chicago after the Vikings waived him and quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a fractured thumb. McNabb told ESPN in Chicago that he expected his hometown team to call. The Bears lost five straight, but beat the Vikings to close out the season.
Reid says McNabb can still play
While Donovan McNabb is losing weight and hoping to get a call from an NFL team, his former coach Andy Reid is encouraging teams to make that call. In an interview with NFL Network, Reid says McNabb can still play and he would "highly recommend" him to other teams.
McNabb still owes Kluwe some publicity
Remember when Chris Kluwe sold Donovan McNabb his No. 5 jersey? It happened before the season started. McNabb's part of the deal was to donate $5,000 to a charity, buy Kluwe an ice cream cone, and give Kluwe's band Tripping Icarus five mentions while speaking to the media. Kluwe says McNabb only mentioned the band twice.
