Minnesota native Rashad Vaughn declares for NBA Draft

Author:

Rashad Vaughn ended the speculation Wednesday when he declared that he's ending his college basketball career and is available in this summer's NBA Draft.

Vaughn, a former standout at Robbinsdale Cooper through his junior season, announced in a YouTube clip that he's turning pro after playing one year of college ball at Nevada-Las Vegas.

The 6-foot-6 guard went down with a knee injury towards the end of the season. FOX 5 reports that Vaughn tore the meniscus in his left knee.

But that didn't ruin a great season. Vaughn led the Runnin' Rebels in scoring by averaging 17.8 points per game, and was named the Mountain West Conference's Freshman of the Year.

Vaughn spent much of the video expressing gratitude to UNLV, but said it has always been his dream to play in the NBA.

"Since being a kid, my dream has always been to play in the NBA and I have decided to take that next step," Vaughn said in the video statement.

Vaughn shot down a report late last month saying he would go pro.
