Minnesotan Caleb Truax's world boxing reign is over

The Osseo native lost his rematch with James DeGale on points.

After shocking the boxing world when he became IBF super-middleweight champion, Caleb Truax was unable to hold onto it.

The 34 year old from Osseo, Minnesota lost his rematch with Briton James DeGale by a unanimous points decision in Las Vegas on Saturday,

Truax had shocked DeGale, who was ranked as the world's best super-middleweight and was the 1-100 favorite, in a fight in London in December.

But DeGale didn't underestimate Truax a second time, triumphing on points despite getting cut on the eye.

Judges scored the bout 117-110, 114-113 and 114-113.

Speaking to the BBC after the fight, Truax – who had cuts on both eyes – said: "I was pretty flat, I couldn't get my shots off. But I thought I won. It is what it is, I guess."
