Minnesotans at the Olympics: Wednesday preview

Amongst a busy Tuesday of Minnesotans in Sochi, on-lookers saw Jessie Diggins of Afton once again come up short in a cross-country ski event, but keep her head up through the struggle. Keri Herman of Bloomington also competed, though she would struggle in slopestyle freestyle skiing qualifying, and admitted later that she nearly vomited going to the top of the hill. The men's and women's curling squads, led by a combined five Minnesotans, also came up empty Tuesday, losing their second and third matches respectively. They're now 0-5 combined on the tournament.

Let's hope for a better Wednesday, here's where you can turn your Olympic hopes tomorrow.

DAY 5:

The women's hockey team, led by reigning NCAA Player of the Year and Minnesota Gopher star Amanda Kessel, plays its third and most important game of group play against three-time defending gold medalist Canada. The U.S. and their neighbors to the north have met in the gold medal game twice in the last three Games, and the stars and stripes will need the best former Gophers Megan Bozek, Anne Schleper, Kessel, Lee Stecklein, and Gigi Marvin have in order to stay undefeated at this year's Olympics. For the first time on the USA's schedule, game time is a bit more manageable for Minnesotans, the massive tilt starting at 6:30 a.m. and carried live on NBC Sports Network.

It's another match apiece for the women's and men's curling teams, with the men taking on Denmark at 11 p.m. tonight, and the women squaring off with China at 4 a.m. The men, now 0-2 on the tournament, still have six qualifying matches to go, their 11 p.m. match re-broadcast at 2 a.m. on NBC Sports Network. The women are 0-3 after two losses Monday and the loss today, and their attempt at a win Wednesday will be carried live on USA Network.

That will do it for Wednesday, check back for results tomorrow afternoon.
