MN sports could have epic 7 days in October
Diehard Minnesota sports fans are sitting one month from a potentially incredible week of drama and fun.
We already know for sure that the week of Oct. 12-18 is going to be awesome, but it'll be next level stuff if the Twins are still playing.
Yeah, yeah... cart before the horse. I know. But let's have some fun and consider the possibility that the Twins make the playoffs, win the Wild Card game and the Divisional Series. Doing so would put them in the American League Championship Series for the first time in 15 years (2002).
If that happens, the seven-day stretch of Oct. 12-18 will be blow your mind.
Thursday, Oct. 12
- Wild at Blackhawks
Friday, Oct. 13
- Twins at TBD, ALCS Game 1
- Gophers vs. Penn State, Big Ten men's hockey
Saturday, Oct. 14
- Gophers vs. Michigan State, Big Ten football
- Gophers vs. Penn State, Big Ten men's hockey
- Wild vs. Columbus
- Twins at TBD, ALCS Game 2
Sunday, Oct. 15
- Vikings vs. Packers
- United FC vs. L.A. Galaxy
Monday, Oct. 16
- Twins vs. TBD, ALCS Game 3
Tuesday, Oct. 17
- Twins vs. TBD, ALCS Game 4
Wednesday, Oct. 18
- Timberwolves at Spurs, season opener
- Twins at TBD, ALCS Game 5 (if necessary)
What's even crazier is that the Gopher men's hockey team plays at North Dakota Oct. 20-21.
This is set up for the ultimate fan experience. Here's what I would do if I could afford it.
- Thursday: Fly/drive to Chicago for Wild vs. Blackhawks.
- Friday: Watch ALCS Game 1 from my couch.
- Saturday: Go to Gophers-Michigan State and Wild-Columbus, assuming the football game starts early enough. The Wild play that night at 7 p.m. I could check in on the Gophers hockey score and ALCS Game 2 from my phone.
- Sunday: Go to Vikings vs. Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium.
- Monday: Go to ALCS Game 3 at Target Field.
- Tuesday: Go to ALCS Game 4 at Target Field.
- Wednesday: Put two TVs in my basement and watch the Wolves season opener and Game 5 of the ALCS.
Honestly, this sounds amazing. I'll try and get Adam from The Tip Jar to write a story on how much this would cost.
