Justin Morneau set to return Wednesday

The Twins plan to activate Justin Morneau from the disabled list before Wednesday's game against the Tigers. He's been out with a sore left wrist, but feels good enough to get back in the lineup. He'll also start at first base, according to Ron Gardenhire.

Morneau may be ready for batting practice

Twins slugger Justin Morneau is in town this weekend for TwinsFest, but he'll also see a team doctor to see if he’s ready to start taking batting practice. Morneau is recovering from wrist surgery he had in September.

Morneau is pain free, expected back for next road trip

Justin Morneau "doesn't feel any pain" in his wrist, according to general manager Terry Ryan. The first-baseman is expected to start swinging a bat again on Saturday and will likely join the Twins for an eight game road trip when he's eligible to come off the disabled list May 16.

Morneau: DH for now?

Justin Morneau might be used as a designated hitter more often than a first baseman this season. Doctors have told Morneau that he's more vulnerable to concussion symptoms returning if his body wears down. Morneau is hot over his last three spring games, going 4-9 with two doubles, two homers and five RBI -- all of which he was the Twins' designated hitter.

Spring Training: Morneau set to play back-to-back games

It was a double off the wall for Justin Morneau today in a “B” game against the Red Sox. The Twins’ first baseman will be in the lineup again tomorrow against Tampa Bay, his first back-to-back games of the spring.

Twins' Morneau accepts DH role

Justin Morneau fully expected to play first base for the Twins on Opening Day. But the slugger tells the Pioneer Press if it makes more sense for him to be the full time designated hitter, he'll do what's good for the team.

Morneau isn't ready to play

The Twins are still without Justin Morneau as he continues to recover from a wrist injury. Ron Gardenhire is away from the team for the weekend series in Seattle, but acting manager Scott Ullger reiterated that Morneau won't play in a game until his wrist is ready.

Morneau takes swings before game

There were several reports from Target Field Saturday that Justin Morneau was hitting a ball off of a tee. He has been on the disabled list retroactive to May 1 with a sore left wrist. Morneau did not take full batting practice.
