MSU coach: kids made up a show, wanted it videotaped
Suspended Minnesota State University-Mankato football coach Todd Hoffner took the witness stand at a court hearing in which his lawyer asked a judge to throw out the child porn charges against Hoffner. The charges stem from the discovery of three videos on his university-issued cell phone that feature his children in the nude.
Hoffner testified that the longest of the videos came about when his three children - all younger than ten - invented a dance routine while in the jacuzzi together. Hoffner says when they got out of the jacuzzi the kids asked him to videotape it. Hoffner insists there is nothing pornographic or inappropriate about the videos.
But under questioning from prosecutors, three law enforcement officers said they found the videos disturbing enough that they brought them to the attention of the county attorney's office.
Hoffner's lawyer asked the county attorney's office to drop the charges after a child protection officer concluded his kids were not abused and after investigators found no child porn on his computer.
