After more than two decades of existence the WNBA will now be recognized as a playable option in a video game.
EA Sports announced that gamers will have the chance to play with WNBA teams and players in this year's version of the game, NBA Live 18.
Lynx star Maya Moore was one of a handful of the WNBA's most popular players to have their face scanned for a more accurate depiction of their real life looks.
"NBA Live 18" will not allow for a fully customized experience like it does for NBA players and user-created male players, but that is the plan moving forward in additional installments," NBA LIVE's executive producer Sean O'Brien told ESPNW. "We've found that through research of a lot of different games in different genres that men and women like playing as women. So that's something we're absolutely committed to moving forward."
EA Sports says the gameplay was designed to "reflect the unique play style of the league and skills of its players."
NBA Live 18 will be released this fall for Xbox One and PS4, according to Gamespot.
