For just the fourth time since the turn of the century, an FCS school has knocked off an Associated Press Top 25 team from the FBS.

North Dakota State did it Saturday with a come-from-behind, 23-21 road win over the 13th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes – and they did it in stunning fashion with a last-second 37-yard field goal by Cam Pedersen.

Both schools are Division I, but NDSU plays in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) while the Hawkeyes play in one of the Power 5 conferences in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

The Bison, the five-time reigning FCS national champions, have now won six straight over teams from the FBS.

NDSU started the scoring when Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard got blindsided with the ball flailing out of his hands into linebacker MJ Stumpf's for an interception return for a touchdown.

Iowa scored the next two touchdowns and took a 14-7 lead into the half. But the Bison stormed back with a strong running game in the third quarter as King Frazier punched it in for a 2-yard touchdown.

Trailing 21-14, NDSU cut the lead to 21-20 with 3:41 to play in the fourth quarterback after a 15-play, 80-yard drive that chewed 8 minutes and 39 seconds. NDSU elected to play for the lead and go for a 2-point conversation but quarterback Easton Stick's pass was deflected and incomplete.

But Robbie Grimsley's (Hutchinson, Minnesota) key third-down sack on Iowa's next possession gave NDSU the ball back with 2 minutes to play and they marched down the field and won on the field goal.
