Vikings could find out tonight if NFL will contribute to stadium costs

NFL owners are expected to meet tonight in Texas and decide whether or not to help finance Minnesota's search for a new stadium. Vikings' owner Zygi Wilf is willing to pay $407-million for the $1.1-billion proposed stadium in Arden Hills, and he's hoping the league will contribute $13-million, thus leaving $650-million in the hands of the state and Ramsey County.

Minneapolis willing to contribute $300-million towards Vikings' stadium

As the Vikings continue to push for a new stadium in Arden Hills, the city of Minneapolis offered up new plans Tuesday. Mayor RT Rybak says Minneapolis can contribute $300-million towards a new stadium. Rybak also says the city can offer "all of the revenue options that are necessary for the Vikings"

Vikings stadium contribution would include money from other sources

The Vikings' owners have said they'll pay more than $400 million toward the cost of a new stadium in Arden Hills. But the governor's top stadium adviser says that total includes a loan from the NFL and revenue from the sale of personal seat licenses. The owners would apparently pay no more than $225 million of their own money.

Ramsey County backed into corner in fight for Vikings stadium

Arden Hills in Ramsey County is the Vikings' preferred site for a new stadium, but finding ways to fund their portion of the $1.1 billion plan is no longer on their shoulders. Ramsey County Commissioner Tony Bennett says "We've jumped every friggin' hoop there is in town."

On NBC's Football Night in America, sports writer Peter King reported the Vikings and Minnesota officials are close to a new stadium deal. According to NBC Sports, it's not a matter of "if," but "when." The Vikings have called Minnesota home since their NFL debut in 1961, but the Metrodome lease expires after the 2011 season. The report did not state whether the new stadium would be in Arden Hills or Minneapolis.

According to the Star Tribune, the White Earth tribe is expected to introduce plans to build a casino in the metro-area that could help fund a Vikings stadium. The tribe claims the casino will raise enough money to pay for the public portion of a stadium, without raising new taxes.
