Wild drafts blue liner Gustav Olofsson with No. 46 pick

The Minnesota Wild selected defenseman Gustav Olofsson in the second-round (No. 46 overall) of the NHL Draft Sunday in New Jersey.

Olofsson is a 6-foot-3 Swedish blue liner who played at Green Bay in the USHL last season. In a brief comment with the Star Tribune, Olofsson said he is "unbelievably excited."

He tells the Pioneer Press that he models his game after Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin.

"Gustav is a big mobile defenseman that really jumped up our draft rankings." Wild assistant GM Brent Flahr tells FOX Sports North. "He's an intelligent player with quality natural instincts for the game. We feel like his game will continue to improve as he gets stronger and gains experience."

He'll play his college hockey at Colorado College this fall.

Here's how the rest of the Wild's draft went:

Round 3: Kurtis Gabriel, right wing

Round 4: Dylan Labbe, center

Round 5: Carson Soucy, defenseman

Round 6: Avery Peterson, center from Grand Rapids, Minnesota

Round 7: Nolan De Jong, defenseman

Round 7: Alexandre Belanger, goalie
