Pekovic had been working out for the team in the Twin Cities, but a couple of weeks ago it was learned that he wasn't ready the season.

Pekovic's body has been breaking down, the 30-year-old center has missed 205 career games – including 70 last season, due to ankle trouble.

According to NBC Sports, Pekovic is owed $23.7 million over the next two seasons with the Wolves.

The Wolves had made replenishing their big men a priority during the offseason. They already have Karl-Anthony Towns, Gorgui Dieng, Cole Aldrich and Jordan Hill upfront.

Nemanja Bjelica and Adreian Payne area also on the roster and could be options as well.

He's missed the last two games with a foot injury, but returned to practiced Thursday and expects to play against L.A. The bad news is that J.J. Barea missed practiced and won't play in the game.

Pekovic considering ankle surgery

Nikola Pekovic says he's going to try and play in as many games as he can over the rest of the season, but bone spurs in his right ankle might force him to have off-season surgery. Pekovic has missed four of the Wolves' last five games, and he won't play in the next two games at Memphis and Charlotte.
