No one in the MLB is close to Buxton's speed on triples

Buxton runs from home to third about as fast as Usain Bolt runs the 100 meters.

Byron Buxton legged out another triple on Thursday -- his 5th of the year which ties Brian Dozier for the team lead. Buxton is one of the fastest players in the league and his speed has been compared to Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt.

Back In April, Buxton recorded the fastest time for a triple with 10.75 seconds while reaching speeds of over 20 miles per hour according to MLB StatCast which is a new tracking technology the league uses to analyze baseball statistics.

In July, Buxton topped his record again with a time of 10.69 seconds and this time he was running at 21 miles per hour while rounding the bases.

And on Thursday Sept. 15, Buxton's triple was recorded at 10.83 seconds which means Buxton holds the three fastest times on triples this season across the entire league.

Buxton is in the midst of his best offensive stretch of his young career. In the month of September, Buxton is batting .347 with 5 home runs, 10 extra-base hits and a 1.176 OPS.

It's a positive sign for the former No. 1 prospect who had a career average of just .200 in 109 career games before this month.
