North Stars legend Lou Nanne opening steakhouse in Edina

Minnesota hockey great Lou Nanne is putting his name on a steakhouse in Edina.

The former North Star – and member of both the United States Hockey Hall of Fame and International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame – has joined forces with co-owner Mark McDermott, whose restaurant group also started the likes of Rojo Mexican Grill and Ling & Louie’s, the Star Tribune reports.

The new Edina steakhouse will be called "Lou Nanne's," and it will be located off of Interstate 494 and France Avenue in a space currently occupied by Romano's Macroni Grill, which will soon close.

In a recent interview with KFAN, Nanne compared his steakhouse to former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula's steakhouse in Miami. But unlike Shula's, Nanne's steakhouse will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Business Journal says.

Nanne hopes to have a grand opening in February (fast forward to the 15:00 mark to hear the interview with Nanne).

Josh Hill has been hired as the executive chef at Lou Nanne's. Hill has been in the same position at Manny's Steakhouse for the past seven years, the Star Tribune says.

Nanne did it all for the North Stars, serving not only as a player, but a coach, general manager and president. He also played at the University of Minnesota and was captain of the 1968 U.S. Olympic team.
