The National Hockey League will debut a team in Las Vegas in 2017, but it might not be long before the National Football League finds a home in Sin City.

According to ESPN, the Oakland Raiders have filed for three trademarks of "Las Vegas Raiders."

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in May that any talks of a franchise in Las Vegas were very premature.

U.S. Senator Harry Reid is on record saying he supports a domed stadium in Vegas, but there are still hurdles to clear before the ball gets moving on anything real.

The Raiders have one year remaining on their lease with their stadium in Oakland.
