Offensive line turns heads in spring game

The Golden Gophers offensive line was a revolving door last season and the U of M addressed that by bringing in two junior college transfers to sew things up.

Vincent Calhoun and Garrison Wright were brought in this season and both are expected to see significant playing time this fall, according to Mike Hendrickson of the Minnesota Daily.

The line certainly did its part, paving the way for 216 rushing yards between both teams, which included a 44-yard touchdown run for James Johannesson.

Johannesson finished the day with 130 yards on 22 carries. Rodney Smith also had a solid day rushing, averaging over 5 yards on his 18 carries.

Team Gold defeated team White 19-7.

The University of Minnesota opens up their regular season on Thursday September 1st against Oregon State at TCF Bank Stadium.
