On notice: Zucker may not make Wild's opening day roster

Minnesota Wild forward Jason Zucker hopes to be a contributing member of the team this season, but his chances of making the opening day roster seem to be dwindling.

"He's got to get more engaged,'' head coach Mike Yeo told the Star tribune. "I thought he was losing races to pucks, and that shouldn't happen with his speed. He just really wasn't much of a factor in the game. He's got to be more involved. That's not an easy thing to do against a team like St. Louis, but you've got to be a factor out there.''

Zucker admitted that he has nobody to blame but himself.

Whether he makes the team might be up to second year forward, Mikael Granlund, who Yeo has been raving about during camp.

The Wild beat the Blues, 3-1. The regular season opens next Thursday at home against the Los Angeles Kings.

Hockey Wilderness has three burning questions about the Wild as the season nears.

Team owner, Craig Leipold, tells FOX Sports North that this Wild squad is the "best team we've ever had here."
