On this day in 2010...

The Metrodome roof collapses due to a storm that dumped as much as 20 inches of snow on some parts of the metro area.

The collapse, which happened around 5 a.m. on this day three years ago, was the fifth time the roof had caved since stadium construction was finished in 1982.

The collapse forced the Vikings, who were scheduled to play the New York Giants that same day, to relocate not only that game, but the rest of their home slate as well.

Minnesota would play New York in Ford Field in Detroit the next night and the Bears at TCF Bank Stadium the following week to conclude their "home" schedule, before finishing the season off with a win in Philadelphia and a return trip to Ford Field, this time to play a team actually from Detroit, the Lions.
