Justin Blackmon scouting report

The NFL season is still a few weeks from being over, but while the best teams in the league prepare for the conference championship round, the worst teams are looking ahead to the NFL Draft. Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon could be on the board when the Vikings' turn comes at pick No. 3.

Vikings could land Matt Kalil or Justin Blackmon in next year's NFL Draft

The Vikings have all but assured themselves a top-three pick in next year's NFL Draft. If the draft were today they would own the rights to the second overall selection. Picking second or third could put the Vikings in line to draft USC left tackle Matt Kalil or Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon.

Spielman: Vikes' No. 3 pick will be Kalil, Claiborne or Blackmon

Vikings GM Rick Spielman wants his staff to consider three names for the third overall pick in next Thursday's NFL draft: USC tackle Matt Kalil, LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne and Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon.

Audio: 'Future' Kalil, Claiborne, Blackmon Vikings radio highlights

If they don't trade away their overall No. 3 pick in the NFL draft, the Vikings say one of three players will be selected in that spot: Matt Kalil, Morris Claiborne or Justin Blackmon. That got Vikings play-by-play man Paul Allen back to the microphone for these fantasy calls.

Vikings need to find a star with pick No. 3

The Minnesota Vikings will have a lot of options when they go on the clock with the third pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. They might be able to go offensive line and take USC's Matt Kalil. Or they might be able to select Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon. Maybe it will be LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne? Whatever they do, there will be plenty of talent available.

NFL Combine: 4 receivers that should be on Vikings' radar

The NFL Combine kicks off on Thursday and runs through the middle part of next week. NFL coaches and general managers will be in attendance watching players work out. Dan Wiederer of the Star Tribune writes that the Vikings should keep a close eye on Justin Blackmon and three other highly ranked receivers.

Spielman analyzes top draft prospects

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman talked extensively about draft prospects during a radio interview on Thursday. Spielman says USC left tackle Matt Kalil is "very nasty when you watch him on tape." He also says LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne is a "unique talent" and that Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon's 40 yard dash time at the NFL Combine will "determine a lot."

Ponder says Vikings won't draft QB

Christian Ponder joined the Dan Patrick Show Tuesday and said Rick Spielman assured him the Vikings wouldn't be selecting a quarterback with pick No. 3 in next April's draft. Ponder says there will be "a lot of changes" between now and the draft.
