Stars beat Wild in shootout

Minnesota's Kyle Brodziak scored a third-period breakaway goal against the Stars to force overtime Saturday night in Dallas. Niklas Backstrom had 33 saves through overtime, but was beaten twice in the shootout to give the Stars (27-22-2) their 2-1 victory. The Wild (25-19-8) will wrap up their three-game road trip on Tuesday in Columbus.

The Minnesota Wild led San Jose 4-2 with less than three-minutes left in the third period Tuesday night, but the Sharks silenced the Xcel Energy Center crowd by tying the game with goals 22 seconds apart, sending the game to overtime, and eventually a shootout. The Minnesota Wild beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 3-2 Thursday night. Kyle Brodziak and Stephen Kampfer scored 54 seconds apart to give the Wild a 2-0 lead in the second period, but the Coyotes scored two goals in a little over a minute to tie the game in the third. Dany Heatley scored the shootout winner in the fifth round.

Kyle Brodziak and Matt Cullen scored regulation goals for the Wild, and Erik Christensen and Cullen scored in the shootout to give the Wild a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers. Niklas Backstrom made 41 saves, including both Florida attempts in the shootout.
