Despite being idled by the NHL lockout, roughly 3,000 Minnesota hockey fans got a chance to watch Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise and defenseman Ryan Suter in action Sunday night, the Star Tribune reports. The two hockey stars were among 30 current and former NHL players to take part in the charity game at Mariucci Arena for Defending the Blue Line, which helps kids of military families play hockey.

The newspaper also mentions paralyzed high school hockey player Jack Jablonski dropped the puck for a ceremonial faceoff.

Fox Sports North notes Parise and Suter were part of Team Army, which beat Team Air Force by a 9-7 final after a 7-7 tie led to a shootout.

Wild submit contract offers to Zach Parise, Ryan Suter

The Minnesota Wild made the offers shortly after the free-market opened Sunday morning. Forward Zach Parise is a Minnesota native who is building a house in the Twin Cities, the Associated Press reports. Defenseman Ryan Suter is considered the top blue-liner on the market.

Wild's Parise, Suter headline charity game

Despite the NHL lockout, Minnesota hockey fans will have a chance to see their Wild favorites Zach Parise and Ryan Suter in action. The pair will headline a charity game to benefit Defending the Blue Line on Oct 28. A host of other players are also expected to play like the Wild's Mikko Koivu and Cal Clutterbuck.

Wild could make strong push for Parise, Suter

While the Wild are expected to make a strong push to sign Zach Parise and Ryan Suter when free agency begins Sunday, they might have a hard time selling them on Minnesota being a winning program. GM Chuck Fletcher says, 'We're not far away. I say that all the time. You can't have the stretch that we did last season and call it a fluke."

No timetable for Suter's decision

The Minnesota Wild offered a contract to Ryan Suter on Sunday, but the free agent defenseman won't be making a decision on his next contract tonight, and there isn't a timetable for when he'll decide. The Wild, Red Wings and Predators are believed to be in the mix for Suter's services.

Dreaming of Parise in a Wild uniform

Imagine how good the Wild's top line would be if Zach Parise was centering it. Add a healthy Mikko Koivu to the second line and all of a sudden the Wild might be able to put up NHL-caliber numbers on offense. Parise will be a free agent after the season, and many fans are hoping he will sign with his hometown team.

Ryan Suter: The 'other' free agent

KFAN's Patrick Brannan writes that signing New Jersey's Zach Parise would be great for the Wild, but fans shouldn't forget about Nashville defenseman Ryan Suter.
