The Minnesota Twins took an early lead and never looked back with their 3-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.
It was just the second road win for the Twins of the season, and just the second home loss for Kansas City.
Mike Pelfrey gave Minnesota seven strong innings as he scattered five hits and kept the Royals off the scoreboard.
The Twins got out to a quick start off Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie. Danny Santana started the game with a double and the Twins were off and running.
The Twins had Guthrie on the ropes again in the second inning, but with two outs and the bases loaded Torii Hunter was thrown out trying to steal home.
It didn't come back to haunt the Twins, who held on for the victory thanks to the strong pitching performance from Pelfrey.
Joe Mauer was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Dozier finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Hunter and Santana also had two hits each.
The Twins (6-9) are off on Thursday, but open a weekend series in Seattle on Friday as Phil Hughes will take the mound against Seattle's Felix Hernandez.
