Jared Allen earns Pro Bowl selection

Defensive end Jared Allen has been named to his fourth career Pro Bowl. Allen leads the NFL with 18.5-sacks -- a career best -- and he's only three-sacks shy of a Vikings' single-season record. Allen's 101.5-sacks is most in the NFL since he entered the league in 2004. No other Vikings were named to the Pro Bowl.

Vikings defensive end Jared Allen was just one vote short of being a unanimous choice for the Associated Press 2011 NFL All-Pro Team. Allen finished the season just a half-sack short of Michael Strahan's NFL record. Lions receiver Calvin Johnson also received 49 of a possible 50 votes.

Pro Bowl scoring glut interrupted by Greenway's forced fumble

Not a lot of defense at the NFL Pro Bowl last night as the AFC blasted the NFC, 59-41. One highlight for Vikings fans was when Chad Greenway forced and recovered a fumble at the goal line to stop an AFC drive. He had four tackles on the night. Jared Allen had two tackles.

Don’t start blubbering when you read this one. But the NFL just might put the Pro Bowl out of its misery. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, there’s talk of suspending the all-star game as soon as this year.

1-5 record makes Allen 'want to vomit'

Jared Allen leads the NFL with 9 1/2 sacks, but that isn't enough to make him happy. He's a team player and says the Vikings' 1-5 record makes him want to vomit. Allen says the team needs to find a way to play well in all three phases of the game.
