The NFL is a ... bruising occupation.

Just ask Christian Ponder and Brett Favre.

Both Viking quarterbacks have sported high-profile bruises while wearing Purple.

After the 2009 NFC Championship game, this is what Favre's ankle looked like after getting battered by the New Orleans Saints:

Flash-forward to 2013, and a shot of Christian Ponder's injured tricep, which prevented him from starting against the Packers in Saturday's Wild Card playoff game:

At Winter Park Monday, Ponder told reporters that he "wanted to be out there" against the Packers, but he just couldn't throw. He also said the injury will heal with rest, and he can't wait to get back in a playoff game next year.
