Pitino's dad looks for another win with Derby horse 'Goldencents'

Sure, there might be 13 inches of snow in your back yard this morning, but it's also Kentucky Derby time, with the big race coming up this Saturday.

A big Minnesota connection is that one of the favorites is partly owned (five percent, but who's counting) by Rick Pitino, the high-profile dad of Gophers basketball coach Richard Pitino.

The name of the beast: Goldencents. While GoldenGophercents is a slightly catchier name, this morning Pitino's horse is at 5-1 to win the Derby. Orb is the early favorite at 7-2.

If that happens, the elder Pitino -- in one month's time -- will have won the NCAA title, entered the basketball Hall of Fame and see his kid get a big time job at a Big 10 school.

As the Associated Press put it: Talk about the greatest four weeks ever.
