Police from MN, WI put cheese and lefse on the line in friendly wager

The stakes are high: cheese and lefse.

OK, maybe they could be higher, but there's still some fun and bragging rights up for grabs as the Shakopee and Eau Claire police departments go head-to-head this week.

The border battle comes ahead of Vikings-Packers week, with the two NFL teams set to play Sunday.

So for fun, the Shakopee Police Department and the Eau Claire Police Department challenged each other to a "Who wore it best?" style vote involving their homestate team's apparel (that's Viking horns for Minnesota, and cheesehead hats for Wisconsin) and the police chiefs.

The entries from Shakopee's Chief Jeff Tate and Eau Claire's Chief Jerry Staniszewski are above.

You can vote for your favorite by clicking here. Polls are open until 7 p.m. on Sunday.

If Shakopee PD wins, they get some cheese, the department tweeted. If Eau Claire wins, they'll get some lefse.

There have been nearly 1,200 votes in three days so far – and as of about 1:45 p.m. Monday, Eau Claire and Staniszewski have a pretty big lead on Tate and his Shakopee outfit.

What's followed is some Twitter fun between the two departments. Here's a sampling.
