The Minnesota Wild start an important early-season road trip tonight in Buffalo -- the former home of Wild forward Jason Pominville, who was dealt from the Sabres to the Wild last season.
It's Pominville's first trip back to Buffalo to play the team he used to captain. During his eight full seasons in Buffalo he scored 185 goals and added 271 assists.
Pominville joked with the Pioneer Press that he wasn't sure where the visitors locker room in Buffalo was. His tone changed from joking to serious when he talked about tonight's game.
"I look at that Buffalo game as an important one for us," he said. "We've got to get our first (road) win. I always look at that first game of the road trip as an important game. And this one is the first game of three in four (days). We have a large stretch coming up."
The first road game this season was in Nashville, the former home of defenseman Ryan Suter, and Suter was booed throughout the game. Pominville is hoping things go a little better for him.
The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. CT and can be seen on NBC Sports Network.
