Vikings coach Leslie Frazier revealed Wednesday that Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder suffered an injury in Sunday's loss to Cleveland, and that his status for the upcoming Pittsburgh game in London is unclear.
That's the news from London, as the Star Tribune reports that Ponder will see limited practice, and that the quarterback himself is vague on the injury, though Frazier says it's a rib, and that today will be key as to whether Ponder starts Sunday.
He added: “Hopefully, there won’t be any long-term effects,” according to the Associated Press.
Ponder says he was able to throw after the injury in the Cleveland game, but that now "Throwing is a little uncomfortable but it’s manageable," he said.
USA Today's Tom Pellissero tweeted this:
Matt would be Matt Cassel, the Vikings second-string QB, who might have heard the chants of his name from the crowd during the Browns loss.
Timing is everything in football, and coincidence should have it that the announcement comes one day after Brett Favre's agent says the retired quarterback could step in right now and play.
