Prep Bowl: CGB, Caledonia, Hutchinson, Eden Prairie win titles

Publish date:

The Eden Prairie Eagles, in what could have been Mike Grant's final game as head coach, rolled over Lakeville North 28-7 to win the Class 6A Prep Bowl Friday night at the Metrodome. The Eagles rushed for 309 yards and threw for just one yard en route to the victory.

Earlier in the day the Hutchinson Tigers destroyed Holy Family Catholic 67-7 to win the Class 4A title. Hutchinson was three points shy of tying the Prep Bowl record of 70 points in the game. Triton High School defeated Luverne with a 70 point outburst in the 2006 state title game.

Caledonia claimed its third straight Class 2A title with a 25-22 win over Moose Lake/Willow River. Senior kicker Levi Schmitz nailed a 24-yard field goal as time expired for the win.

The 9-Man crown belongs to top-ranked Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, who defeated Grand Meadow 40-22. CGB did all of it's damage on the ground - literally. They ran for 393 yards and passed for zero.

Saturday's Prep Bowl schedule goes as follows:

1:00 p.m. -- Class 3A -- Rochester Lourdes vs. Blue Earth Area
