Prep football: Joe Nelson's Fab Five games of the week

The high school football is flying by, but never fear, prep football expert Joe Nelson is here.

Presenting, Joe's Fab Five for Sept. 27, 2013:

It’s a battle of undefeated teams in the Central Lakes Conference. This matchup couldn’t be played at a better spot than Tech’s home turf near downtown St. Cloud. To me, this game will decide the best team in the conference. Tech looks like the powerhouse in the CLC South while Brainerd is the top dog in the North.

Chisago’s Joshua Parks is one of the most underrated players in the state. The running back has rushed for 499 yards through four games, and he’s done it on 48 carries. That’s 10.4 yards per rush. He also has 9 touchdowns. Both teams are trying to stay undefeated in the Mississippi 8 Conference.

Another matchup featuring two undefeated teams. This one is simple. The winner takes the reigns with the best chance to win the Missota Conference.

It might take 50 points to win this game. Seriously. It’s two extremely high-powered passing attacks. I believe the winner of this game will challenge Totino-Grace for the honor of being the best team in the Northwest Suburban Conference.

I wouldn’t go as far as to call this a passing of the torch in the Suburban East because Cretin will always be a top dog, and Stillwater and Mounds View are always great. But this East Ridge team is as good as almost any team in Minnesota. Unfortunately, a torn ACL ended Raptor running back Nick Leach’s season.
