Prep Football Tourney: State quarterfinals complete, semifinals set

The high school football State Tournament is well underway after a full slate of quarterfinal games Friday and Saturday around the state. Check out our recap of each tournament bracket, including Class 6A where Eden Prairie and Wayzata are set for a semifinal showdown.

The high school football State Tournament is well underway after a full slate of quarterfinal games Friday and Saturday around the state. Let's go class by class and look at all of the action so far.

Class 6A
Rosemount upset No. 1 seed Edina to reach the semifinals on Thursday. The Irish will meet Lakeville North, which dominated Prior Lake. The other semifinal is set between Wayzata and Eden Prairie. Jeff Borchardt led the Trojans over Eastview with three touchdowns. Eden Prairie advanced with a 21-18 win over Minnetonka.

Class 5A
St. Thomas Academy is into the semifinals after running away from Elk River, 30-7. The Cadets will play the Owatonna Huskies, which blanked Mankato West, 28-0. Owatonna is now 11-0. Totino-Grace, the No. 1 team in 5A pounded Apple Valley 42-14. T-G awaits the Bemidji, the winner of Saturday night's quarterfinal game against Moorhead. Bemidji defeated Moorhead 34-14.

Class 4A
The Becker Bulldogs got past DeLaSalle 21-14 -- a relatively low-scoring game between two of the highest scoring teams in the state. Becker will meet Hutchinson in the state semifinals. Hutch narrowly beat Kasson-Mantorville, 23-21. In the bottom half of the 4A bracket the Holy Family Catholic Fire awaits Princeton after beating Detroit Lakes 34-31 on Saturday. Holy Family defeated Hill-Murray, 27-23.

Class 3A
The only quarterfinal game played Friday night was between Jordan and Rochester Lourdes. Lourdes advanced with a 21-7 win
On Saturday, Annandale defeated New London-Spice 20-17, Perham beat Esko 42-8, and Blue Earth Area topped St. Croix Lutheran 21-12.

Class 2A
BOLD will meet defending 2A champion Caledonia. BOLD beat Holdingford in overtime while Caledonia eased past Sibley East, 27-6. Moose Lake-Willow River defeated Hawley 35-22. It will play Jackson County Central, which ripped Mayer Lutheran, 51-20.

Class 1A
Defending champion Dawson-Boyd advanced with a 35-20 win over Browerville. The Blackjacks will play Bethlehem Academy, who beat Sleepy Eye-St. Mary's 43-12 on Saturday. Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City rallied to beat Saint Clair, 38-20. ACGC awaits Mahnomen, the winner of Saturday's quarterfinal game against Barnum. Mahnomen shut out Barnum 26-0.

One semifinal is set as South Ridge topped Nevis and Grand Meadow beat Mountain Lake Area.Goodridge/Grygla knocked out Ely 34-6 on Saturday. Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley beat Wheaton-Herman-Norcross 6-0 in overtime.
