Prep Hockey: Benilde-St. Margaret's looks for repeat; Can St. Thomas Academy three-peat?

After a weekend of holiday tournaments, the 2012-13 Minnesota boys' high school hockey season begins with a blast this week as regular season play gets under way.

Defending champions Benilde-St. Margaret's (Class 2A) and St. Thomas Academy (Class 1A) may be the teams to beat again when the March tournament rolls around, but traditional powerhouses like Edina (2A), Minnetonka (2A), Totino Grace (1A) and Breck (1A) hope to play the spoiler card.

In their extensive preseason preview, the Star Tribune listed five storylines to follow this winter, topped by Edina's emergence as one of the most physically-imposing Hornets teams in recent memory.

As for who will be Mr. Hockey this year, the Pioneer Press points to Benilde's Grant Besse, the star of the 2012 2A title game over Hill-Murray.
