Preview: Wild vs. Stars

The Wild (22-18-7) look to avoid their fifth consecutive loss when the Stars (24-20-2) return to the Xcel Energy Center Saturday night. Minnesota needs to boost its offense after being outscored 17-6 during an 0-3-1 road trip. Four players from the Houston Aeros will join the Wild for the game in St. Paul. Dallas is also only one loss away from its fifth consecutive defeat.

The Wild (22-16-6) will meetup with the Blues (25-12-6) on the road Saturday night. Minnesota continued to struggle Thursday losing 5-2 to the Blackhawks. The Wild are now 2-9-3 in their last 14 games. St. Louis also lost on home ice Thursday to Vancouver in overtime. However, that was just the second loss for the Blues in 11 homes games. Minnesota beat St. Louis twice at the Xcel in November.

Wild's Zidlicky not in lineup to face Jets

Wild coach Mike Yeo is scratching Marek Zidlicky from Thursday night's game against the visiting Winnipeg Jets. Trade rumors have surrounded the Wild defenseman for the past couple of weeks. Reports claim Zidlicky waived his no-trade clause Wednesday to go to New Jersey. The NHL trade deadline is February 27.

Minnesota (25-19-7) beat Dallas at the Xcel Energy Center two weeks ago. However, the Stars (26-22-2) are looking to win their 15th straight home game against the Wild Saturday night. Both teams are still chasing one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference. Minnesota lost 11 straight road games before beating Colorado last month and again Thursday night. The Stars are coming off a two-game winning streak.

Minnesota (25-21-8) continues to struggle as of late, despite being one the best teams in the NHL earlier this season. The Wild have lost their last three games, including a loss on the road in Columbus Tuesday. Minnesota will again face the Blue Jackets (15-33-6) on home ice Saturday night.
