The Timberwolves could be 4-1 after Friday night against the Pacers. Even with their two top players sidelined, Minnesota is off to a solid start this season.

The Associated Press says the Wolves' strong defense is what's driving the team's success, ranking among the league leaders giving up an average of 89 points per game.

Point guard J.J. Barea missed practice Thursday with a mid-foot sprain suffered during Wednesday's victory over Orlando. Barea's listed as "day-to-day" and will be reevaluated before Friday's game.

Indiana will be without star forward Danny Granger who's out for three months after receiving an injection to treat patellar tendinitis in his knee.
