Publisher announces biography of Brett Favre set for 2016 release

Author:

Now that Brett Favre is bound for the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, it appears that a new biography chronicling his amazing career will be out later this year.

Publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt announced Monday that it had acquired Jeff Pearlman's "Gunslinger: The Remarkable, Improbable, Iconic Life of Brett Favre."

Favre spent the majority of his 20-year-NFL Career starting at quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. He won three straight MVP Awards from 1995-1997 and led the Packers to the 1997 Super Bowl Championship.

He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 1991 NFL Draft, then traded to the Packers the following season. After spending 16 seasons in Green Bay he was traded to the New York Jets following a messy separation with the Packers, that included Favre retiring and then un-retiring.

In 2009, Favre recaptured some of the magic of his Packers years while playing for the Vikings. That season he threw for 4,202 yards and 33 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions. He led the Vikings to the NFC Championship game, where Minnesota eventually fell to the New Orleans Saints in overtime.

He and the Packers have since made up and Favre was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame earlier this year.

The Associated Press notes that Pearlman will draw upon hundreds of interviews, including some with close friends and family members, but Favre himself did not participate.

The book is set to be released in November.
