Jaran Roste is his name and completely shredding the competition is his game – and he should immediately be added to a Mr. Football watch list after his record-breaking game last week.

The senior quarterback from Alexandria High School broke the state record for touchdowns in a game last Saturday, throwing for 5 and rushing for 4 more (not to mention a 2-point conversion). He racked up a state-record tying 56 points in Alexandria's 69-20 win over Bemidji.

The single game points record was first set in 1953 by a guy named Lowell Tornquist of Kerkoven, and the previous record of 8 touchdowns in a game was set in 1966 and again 2012, according to the Alexandria Echo Press.

Roste, who is 6'4'', 225 pounds, was 11-18 for 292 yards in the air and he carried the ball 11 times for 62 yards. Check out the game highlights and you'll see what more people need to – a strong-armed quarterback with size and speed.

"Jaran has had some (recruiting) interest, but you know? We are WAY out here in out-state and don't get the same attention as the metro," Alexandria head coach Michael Empting told GoMN.com. "Yes, he is a special player. He will do well at the next level, just gotta get the word out. He is a best kept secret to some programs in the know I'd guess."

In February, Scout.com said Roste was "very high" on the Gophers' radar.

Alexandria (5-0) is ranked No. 6 in this week's Class 5A AP poll and they have a huge game Saturday against traditional 5A power Brainerd (4-1).

But Roste isn't the only Alexandria Cardinal making noise. Running back Micah Christensen scored four straight times he touched the ball in a Week 4 win over Willmar. He returned the opening kickoff of the second half 86 yards for a touchdown and then scored on three consecutive runs of 45, 90 and 53 yards.

Brock Lesnar might want to get off his ranch near Alexandria and go check these guys out.
