It's been two and a half years since Ray Rice punched his fiancé in the face and dragged her dazed body out of an elevator.
Rice hasn't played in the NFL since – the Baltimore Ravens eventually released him before the start of the 2014 season – and now he promises to donate his entire 2016 salary to programs that help prevent domestic violence if a team will give him a chance to play.
"The only way to fix the problem is awareness. It’s an epidemic," Rice told USA Today's Tom Pelissero. "I know that my situation raised awareness. I’m not thankful for being that guy, but I’m thankful for the people that now are not afraid to ask for help, because I had to go get the help myself after to realize the severity of what domestic violence is."
Rice, who has admitted that a team probably won't give him another chance, was banned from the NFL and later reinstated after a successful appeal process. But no team has touched him since.
The lady Rice assaulted is now his wife – Janay Rice.
As for football, Rice says he's been training to stay in shape – and he proved it to TMZ last November.
