Steph Curry and Klay Thompson have company in the battle for best backcourt in the NBA.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, nine-time All-Star Chris Paul will be traded to the Houston Rockets after opting in to his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Clippers will receive Sam Dekker, Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams and a draft pick from Houston in the sign-and-trade exchange.

Houston now sports a backcourt featuring Paul and James Harden, who is fresh off leading the Rockets to the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference after averaging 29.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 11.2 assists per game. Paul averaged 18.1 points and 9.2 assists, so the Rockets now have two of the top four assist leaders from 2016-17.

Paul to the Rockets helps pave the way for the Rockets to potentially add a third star in free agency, giving them a chance to build a big three just like the Timberwolves did by trading for Jimmy Butler. We're already seeing reports about the Rockets trying to get Paul George next.

Now all eyes are on the Celtics, who reportedly are trying to add Paul George and Gordon Hayward to a roster that already features All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas
