It's not official just yet, but Case Keenum's dream season with the Vikings will be his last.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Keenum will sign with the Denver Broncos when the free agency signing period opens Wednesday afternoon.
The move comes as a bit of a surprise considering the Broncos were hyped as one of four teams in the mix to sign Kirk Cousins. Instead, they're not waiting around to risk missing out on Cousins and others while Cousins waits to make his decision.
It also eliminates one of the four teams reportedly in the mix to sign Cousins, making Minnesota an even bigger favorite to sign him.
Keenum was awesome for Minnesota last season, going 11-3 as the starter with 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while completing 67.6 percent of his attempts.
He helped Minnesota overcome a Week 1 injury to Sam Bradford and led them all the way to the NFC Championship Game, but it wasn't enough to justify a long-term deal with the Vikings.
"Is he the guy when he was at Houston or the Rams or is he the guy who played for us?" head coach Mike Zimmer asked during the NFL Combine. "Is it because he had a good team around him?”
Cousins remains Minnesota's target, per multiple reports, and Schefter says they are the favorite to get him with the Jets and Cardinals on the outside looking in.
As for Drew Brees, it sounds like the Saints will get a deal done with him in the next 24 hours.
