Former Gophers quarterback Mitch Leidner will head to the Baltimore Ravens rookie mini-camp this weekend on a tryout. If Leidner impresses, he'll then earn a spot at training camp later this summer.

According to Andrew Kramer of the Star Tribune, Leidner had seven tryout offers, including the Vikings. The Lakeville native will be joining former Gopher teammate Maxx Williams.

Leidner recently wrapped up his career at the U of M where he completed 57 percent of his passes while throwing 36 touchdowns and 32 interceptions.

Although his accuracy has been his biggest problem, teams are still intrigued by Leidner due to his 6-foot-3, 225-pound frame.

"Leidner has NFL size and has some traits that warrant a trip into camp," said Lance Zierlein of NFL.com. "But he lacks timing, decision-making and confidence as a passer."

About a year ago, ESPN Draft expert Todd McShay said Leidner had the makings of a first-round pick, comparing him to Blake Bortles and Carson Wentz.

Cornerback Jalen Myrick was the only Gopher taken in this year's draft.

Leidner's favorite target, Drew Wolitarsky, will be staying put in Minnesota as he accepted an invite to Vikings' rookie camp.
