Report: Peterson will have groin surgery

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who had knee surgery two years ago and hernia surgery last year, will reportedly go under the knife for the third consecutive offseason.

In a meeting with the doctor that performed his hernia surgery last year, Philadelphia-based William D. Meyers, Meyers advised AP to have the groin procedure.

According to an USA Today report regarding the nature of the surgery, it will be a minimally invasive procedure called an abductor release, which cuts an irritated tendon and would require a short rehab stint.

Peterson has not set a date for the surgery, with early reports only saying that it will happen "soon".
