Report: Terence Newman wants to return to Vikings

Terence Newman is 37-years-old but according to the Pioneer Press, the longtime defensive back isn't ready to call it a career. Instead, he wants to return for a second season with the Vikings.

"A source close to Newman said the cornerback, who turns 38 in September, wants to play another season and wants to re-sign with the Vikings. Newman in recent years has contemplated retirement and declined to comment last December on his intentions."

Newman was a starting cornerback opposite of Xavier Rhodes last season, but winning the starting gig this season could come down to a competition against 2015 first-round draft pick Trae Waynes.

There's also been talk about moving Newman to safety, but Vikings general manager Rick Spielman squashed that at the NFL Combine when he said he thinks Newman a corner.

Daily Norseman thinks it would be a small shock if Newman doesn't return to the Vikings, because the Vikings are said to have interest in bringing him back as well.

Newman will be the oldest player in the NFL if he plays again next season.
