The Timberwolves are putting the finishing touches on their preseason, with the regular season opening on Oct. 26 in Memphis against the Grizzlies.
Most of the Wolves' roster appears to be set with a few players battling for the final roster spots, and that includes Apple Valley native and former first round pick Tyus Jones.
According to Daren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN, Jones is currently the fourth point guard on the depth chart for Minnesota, behind 33-year-old John Lucas III – who's with the Timberwolves on a non-guaranteed contract.
Wolfson notes that Lucas III is a near-lock to make the team and that the Kings, 76ers and Pelicans are three teams that have some level of trade interest in Jones.
Jones played sparingly last season, appearing in just 38 games. He did play well this summer at the NBA Summer League winning MVP of the tournament.
Ricky Rubio and rookie Kris Dunn are expected to share the bulk of the point guard duties this season for Minnesota.
