A report in March said the Vikes and Eagles would meet in the opener.

Vikings and Eagles fans looking forward to a rematch of last year's NFC Championship Game on opening night next season can kiss those dreams goodbye, apparently.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles are opening the season against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, Sept. 6.

In March, Philly radio host Howard Eskin reported that the Eagles would host the Vikings to open the NFL season and that they would raise their Super Bowl championship banner in front of the Vikings, so that report was apparently fake news.

McLane adds that the Vikings vs. Eagles game will be Week 5.

– So, Philadelphia Eagles fans are awful.
