It was reported earlier this week that the Timberwolves are actively shopping point guard Ricky Rubio. Now we have an idea of one of the teams Minnesota could be talking to.
According to a report from ESPN, the Wolves have had discussions with the Detroit Pistons about a Rubio for Reggie Jackson point guard swap.
"Sources told ESPN that no deal appeared imminent Friday but said the teams have engaged in dialogue this week on a potential multiplayer exchange that would be headlined by Rubio and Jackson."
Rubio and Jackson are both 26 years old. The main difference between the two is that Jackson is a scorer and Rubio is a defender. Jackson is averaging 20.2 points per game this month, whereas Rubio's season average is a career low 7.7 points per game.
How the Wolves would use Jackson in the long term is a big question. Rookie Kris Dunn is the future starting point guard, but Jackson still has five years and $80 million remaining on his contract.
