At this year's boys hockey state tournament, an instant replay waived off a potential game-winning goal for Hermantown High School.

There's also been video review for both boys and girls basketball in the Minnesota State High School League. And now the MSHSL is considering adding instant replay to football at the Prep Bowl Championships.

Kevin Merkle, associate director of the MSHSL told the Pioneer Press, if it's adopted the replay system would involve scoring plays or turnovers. Plays such as catches, stepping out of bounds and possible targeting calls could also be included.

The Star Tribune reports, a committee of football coaches and activities directors share an interest in using the technology. The board will vote on the decision in August or October, to approve the motion.

Apparently many people at last year's Prep Bowl noticed a lot of missed calls by officials on the large video boards inside the stadium.

The Prep Bowl will take place at U.S. Bank Stadium in November.
