Reports: Senegal forward commits to Pitino, Gophers

Author:

Richard Pitino and the Gophers men's basketball team has received another commitment.

Several sources report 6-9 forward from Senegal Gaston Louis Diedhiou has verbally committed to playing for the Gophers.

The Pioneer Press reports Diedhiou, 20, is currently playing at Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain. The newspaper says the athletic power forward is expected to sign next week.

The 240-pound Diedhiou joins a recruiting class that includes Josh Martin, Nate Mason and Junior College standout Carlos Morris, according to Scout.com.

Diedhiou is known for his athleticism, ability to run the floor and his physical presence in the paint. He is expected to sign a Letter of Intent with the Gophers next week.

BT Powerhouse notes that he is still a bit raw, but will have a chance to learn behind Maurice Walker and Elliott Eliason before he's forced into a more prominent role.
