Reports: Shaun Hill to start at QB for Vikings in opener

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer wouldn't say during his Friday press conference whether it would be Sam Bradford or Shaun Hill getting the start at quarterback during their season opener at Tennessee.

But Zimmer said he had made his decision. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Zimmer also informed the players who the starter would be.

If that is the case it would be the first start Hill has made in a Vikings uniform. He did not start a game last season while serving as Teddy Bridgewater's backup, but he did make eight starts for the St. Louis Rams in 2014.

There had been hints all week that it might be Hill. The 36-year-old veteran was listed at the top of the depth chart, earlier this week.

But Titans coach Mike Mularkey said he wasn't buying into all the Hill hype, noting that the Vikings wouldn't have given up a first and fourth round draft pick for Bradford to sit.

Zimmer said Friday that he wasn't planning to make an announcement before Sunday.
