Twins call up Butera, designate Burroughs for assignment

Drew Butera was called up from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday. He'll backup Ryan Doumit at catcher. Joe Mauer is back in the Twins' lineup as the DH, but he's still sore after taking a foul tip to his left knee on Sunday. To make room on the roster for Butera, the Twins designated Sean Burroughs for assignment.

Twins sign Burroughs, re-sign Rivera

Sean Burroughs is the newest member of the Minnesota Twins. The free-agent third-baseman signed a minor league deal Wednesday. Minnesota also re-signed catcher Rene Rivera to a minor league deal. Both players received invitations to spring training.
