Morneau takes swings before game

There were several reports from Target Field Saturday that Justin Morneau was hitting a ball off of a tee. He has been on the disabled list retroactive to May 1 with a sore left wrist. Morneau did not take full batting practice.

Morneau: 'I'm way ahead of where I was'

Justin Morneau is scheduled to swing a bat Saturday before the Twins play the Blue Jays, but he'll only do so if his wrist feels good. Manager Ron Gardenhire says, "We're going to let him tell us when he's ready. He's going to grab a bat, and if it feels OK, he's going to start taking some swings."

Morneau: DH for now?

Justin Morneau might be used as a designated hitter more often than a first baseman this season. Doctors have told Morneau that he's more vulnerable to concussion symptoms returning if his body wears down. Morneau is hot over his last three spring games, going 4-9 with two doubles, two homers and five RBI -- all of which he was the Twins' designated hitter.
